This workshop will introduce hand papermaking using inclusions and stencils. Participants will be able to make and take home handmade paper using cotton fiber. Paper may be designed using stencils made from Dura-lar, natural inclusions found at yəhaw̓’s land, and other collage material inclusions thinner than a coin.
Michael Paul Baja Anderson is a second-generation Filipino-American multidisciplinary artist based in Chicago, IL. Softness, connection, memory, and play drive Anderson’s practice. Using physical processes of connection such as weaving, hand papermaking, and collage, Anderson transforms fragments from the margins into visions modeling forms of strength, care, and cultural perpetuation.
Michael grew up in Washington, and co-curated Indigenous Creatives Collective teen art show in 2019 as a high school junior. Welcome back Michael!
